Heat rises. The air near your head in a sauna runs meaningfully hotter than the air at bench level, and your scalp is the least insulated part of your body against that heat. A wool sauna hat sits directly on the crown and creates an insulating layer that keeps your head more comfortable during longer sessions.

Care
- Air-dry between sessions on the built-in hang loop — wool is naturally odor-resistant and doesn’t need frequent washing
- Never machine-wash, tumble-dry, or wring — all three will felt or shrink the wool
- Spot-wash gently with cool water only if needed, then lay flat to dry and reshape while damp
- Store dry between uses — not in a damp gym bag long-term

Why wear a sauna hat?

Does wool get too hot?
The opposite. Dense wool insulates you from the sauna’s rising heat, and it wicks moisture as you sweat. Your head stays cooler and more comfortable while your body still receives the full sauna session. This is why sauna cultures have used wool for centuries.
Can men and women both wear it?
Yes. The Pink Bucket is unisex and one-size-fits-most (up to 24″ head circumference). The silhouette works for a wide range of face shapes and hair lengths.
How should it fit?
Snug but not tight. Wool molds to your head over the first few sessions for a more customized fit. If it slides up or feels loose, your head measurement is likely well under 24″.
How do I clean it?
Air-dry after every session. If it needs cleaning, spot-wash with cool water and lay flat to dry, reshaping while damp. Never machine-wash, tumble-dry, or wring — wool felts and shrinks with heat and agitation.
Can it be used in a steam room or infrared sauna?
Yes. Wool sauna hats work in traditional Finnish saunas, infrared saunas, steam rooms, and barrel saunas. The insulation principle is the same across all of them.
What’s the difference between regular wool and Merino wool?
Both are 100% natural wool. The Pink Bucket uses NordicWool™ sauna-grade wool felt — dense and structured. Our Merino Wool Sauna Hat uses finer Merino fibers, which are softer against the skin. Same natural insulation, different feel. Merino runs slightly higher in price because the fiber itself is more expensive.
How long should a sauna hat last?
Built for hundreds of sessions. The dense wool holds its structure and doesn’t degrade the way synthetic alternatives do. Every Halsa hat is hand-inspected before shipping. If yours doesn’t hold up under normal use, we’ll replace it.
