Why 2mm, not 6mm
Some brands market 6mm sauna hats as "premium" because thicker sounds better. In practice, 6mm is overkill for how most people sauna — heavier on the head, holds excess moisture, and takes longer to dry between sessions without adding meaningful heat protection past what a well-made 2mm or 5mm wool felt already provides.

What size sauna hat do I need?
The Bucket is one-size-fits-most and accommodates head circumferences up to 24" (61cm) — which fits the vast majority of adult men and women. If your head runs larger, use a soft tape to measure the circumference of your head about an inch above your ears. If you're 24" or under, the Bucket will fit.
Is 2mm thick enough? Some competitors sell 6mm hats.
Yes, 2mm is the sweet spot for daily sauna use. We tested 6mm during product development and it didn't perform meaningfully better than our 5mm hats — but it was heavier on the head, slower to dry, and more expensive. How do I care for my Bucket?
Air dry after every session — don't wring, don't machine wash, don't put in a dryer. Wool is naturally antimicrobial, so it stays fresh with minimal maintenance. If the hat needs cleaning, spot wash gently with cold water and lay flat to dry. Reshape the brim while damp.
Won't a wool hat make me hotter?
No — the opposite. Dense wool insulates the scalp from the sauna's rising heat and wicks moisture as you sweat. Your head stays cooler and more comfortable while your body still receives the full sauna session. Sauna cultures in Finland and Russia have worn wool hats for generations for exactly this reason.
How long will the Bucket last?
